EDUCATION

Since 1985, the Kenyan system of education  has been structured on the model known as  “8-4-4" which corresponds to 8 years of primary education, 4 years of secondary  education and a minimum 4 years of  university education. Each of these 3 levels is validated by a final examination whose objective is to control the access to the following levels of study and at the same time attest the level reached by the delivery of a certificate:

- KCPE "Kenya Certificate of Primary Education" whose results determine the type of secondary school that will admit the pupil (by order of merit, a national, provincial school or a district School);

- KCSE "Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education" which filters entry in the public universities;

- Bachelor’s Degree which sanctions the first 4 years of university education and qualifies a person to study for a Postgraduate Diploma, Masters Degree and Doctorate.
